When you Whistle, it’s not Work, expands on the idea that a percussionist plays “everything but the kitchen sink”. The prepared sink uses contact mics, and various add ons for its basic sound set. All sound is processed thru some cheap guitar pedals. Everything is battery powered including the pump that fills the sink’s water faucet.
This piece was originally commissioned for Art in Odd Places Orlando in 2017. A revised version was commissioned for Art on the Atlanta Beltline in 2022. More info here.
