For the next two weeks, I’ll be working on a new piece for NY choreographer Jody Sperling of Time Lapse Dance. She is setting a piece on the Brenau Dance Company. The piece Dancing in the Arctic is the result of her journey to the Arctic as the first choreographer-in-residence aboard the USCGC Healy. She danced on sea ice!
I’ll be composing and performing original music for this piece. I’m using a composite rig with a bass drum, marimbula, theremin, waterphone, flutes, rattles, orchestral bells, and assorted home-made drums & percussion instruments. I’m also using contact & regular mics which run into guitar, pedals and loopers to add effects. Here’s an early view:
